Grade Level: 11 or 12 Prerequisite: Career Exploration and/or related course in that
Credit: .5 career cluster
Application form needs to be submitted to Mrs. Santee for approval
This course meets the following State Career & Technical Standards: Resources, Interpersonal Skills, and Information.
This course is designed to give students a practicum experience in the field of work in which they are interested.
- Students will observe professionals in their field(s) of interest.
- Community professionals agree to serve as a mentor for student.
- This is a non-paid work/career experience.
- Multi-shadowing opportunities are available – with teacher approval. Students will not spend more than one semester at a location.
- Applications are required for this course.
- Students will keep a practicum log of their shadowing experiences, which will include written reflections and an evaluation of their experience.
- Students will complete a “Mentor report”.
- Students must set up their own placement and provide their own transportation to and from the mentorship.
- Grades will be determined by completion of all necessary paperwork, mentor evaluation, attendance, and other assignments.
