This course meets the following State Career & Technical Standards: Resources, Interpersonal Skills, Information, Systems, and Technology.
This course is designed to introduce students to careers available in and the functions of business marketing,
management, retailing, and other related business areas, including entrepreneurship.
- Students will develop a basic business plan in this course.
- Basic concepts of the free enterprise system will be presented to help students understand the economic world in which they live.
- Students will be introduced to the major concepts of owning and managing a business, including the challenges of operating a business in the twenty-first century on a local, national and/or international scale.
- Topics such as types of business ownership, satisfying customer needs, making a business profitable and
developing promotional campaigns will be covered.
- Students will develop entry-level skills to be successful in a variety of general business and marketing occupations.
- This course is a good foundation for future studies in the areas of marketing, management, accounting, retailing or finance.
- In today's world, having a background in business gives you a jump on your future.
This course emphasizes the following academic skills: Writing, Math computational skills.
