The IDEAL Science class is designed to bring real-life experience into the classroom by giving students hands-on
activities with life science/safety and chemistry in the kitchen.
Students completing this course will:
• Follow a recipe and explain possible reasons for results when cooking

IDEAL Work

IDEAL Work. This class is three-fold: classroom instruction – on-the-job training – apartment living. The curriculum
is set up in such a way to help students with transition from high school.

The IDEAL Social Studies class is designed to provide opportunities for the students to experience cultures and
events in our community as well as in other states and countries.
• Identify news events around the world
• Prepare oral reports on people and places

The Language Arts course is designed to teach skills in all areas of communication — speaking, reading, and writing.
The course will include...
• A variety of literature — novels, short stories, and essays
• Structured writing with lessons on sentence, paragraph, and essay construction
• Formal speeches and informal discussions
Students completing this course will...
• Improve their present level of reading
• Improve their present level of spelling
• Identify and explain 6 syllable types and apply them in reading and writing
• Be able to divide words into syllables for decoding

Learning Lab’s purpose is to assist students with class work.
Given instruction and assistance in the Learning Lab, students will meet the following objectives at 80% or better:
• Attend class daily
• Be on time to class
• Bring necessary materials to class
• Be on task during class
• The Basic Math course is designed to teach basic math skills at the level of the individual students as
identified in the I.E.P. Content may include areas such as the use of the basic operations, use of decimals,
fractions, leading into basic geometry and the use of equations.
