Hi I am Brenda Iden,
Welcome to the Compensatory Education class. Comp Ed is designed to help student be a successful student at Riverton High School. We have daily lessons on how to be a smarter learner. There have been many studies done on how to learn and be successful in school. We use the Study Power textbook that teaches how to listen more effectively, take better notes, keep organized, manage your time, take tests and how to study smarter. I check grades weekly with students and encourgae them to make contact with their teachers for progress reports if their grades are less than desirable. I try to help students understand that working smarter takes less time with greater results. If students have the desire to be good students there is nothing to hold them back but themselves. A little effort goes along ways. There is also time during class to work on and get help with home work. I also do after school Scholastic Workshop for those students who have 2 or more "F"s. At RHS, we take learning seriously and expect our students to engage in their own learning process. If students want to be successful there are many resources available to assist them.
I am looking forward to working with your student and making it a great year!
Brenda Iden
